Learning Beam Academy: Where Sudbury’s Brightest Futures Begin!
At Learning Beam Academy, we believe it’s never too early to discover who you are and explore your place in the world. Our experience shows that young children are bursting with curiosity, ready to understand the ‘why’ of everything around them. We are Sudbury’s leader in early childhood education because we’ve built a program that channels this natural wonder into a foundational love of learning. Our caring teachers and Early Childhood Education (ECE) specialists are dedicated to filling each day with the magic of discovery.
The Learning Beam Academy experience is a marvelous journey. From the moment our youngest students walk through our doors, they enter a world where numbers come to life, words take shape, and their imagination is encouraged to soar. Here, the possibilities for learning and personal growth are infinite.
We challenge children to learn while recognizing that each child develops at their own unique pace. As educators, we watch closely and we listen. The moment we see a child is ready for the next step, we provide the encouragement and tools they need to take it with confidence.
Pre-Kindergarten – Discovering the Magic of ‘Why?’
This is the year children are discovering the pure fun in learning. Our Pre-Kindergarten program is packed with engaging, hands-on activities designed to feed their incredible thirst for information. Letters, numbers, and the way the world works are explored and absorbed through play, song, and exploration each day.
-
Skill Development: We help build fine motor skills with puzzles, connecting blocks, and guided use of scissors. Our Physical Education classes develop gross motor coordination and get students excited about active play.
-
Creative Expression: Drama and Music are active and imaginative classes that encourage students to move with rhythm and purpose. Art allows them to express their creativity as we encourage them to explore a variety of mediums.
-
Language Foundations: French is introduced through fun songs and games, building vocabulary skills and an ear for new languages.
It’s a busy, full day of learning and fun. You will be amazed at how much your child wants to learn and how delighted they will be to serenade you with a new French song or an imaginative story at the end of their day.
Kindergarten – Where a Passion for Reading Ignites!
This is where the joy of reading truly begins! Our dynamic, phonics-based literacy program is an adventure filled with colourful characters who bring learning to life. With each letter learned, students begin to blend sounds and create words. Soon, they are proudly reading and writing on their own.
-
Confident Writing: As children develop the fine motor skills needed for writing, we teach penmanship in a lighthearted, memorable way.
-
Mathematical Thinking: Two-dimensional shapes and patterns are fascinating to students at this age. We challenge them with puzzles, drawings, and blocks—encouraging them to find shapes in the world around them.
-
Language and Music: French and Music really begin to take hold this year. Children at this age can often mimic sounds perfectly, and they will be thrilled to teach you what they’ve learned—and maybe even gently correct your accent!
Senior Kindergarten Building Confident, Curious Learners!
At this age, children have the focus and patience to dive deeper into reading, moving from simple words to full sentences and then on to storybooks. Our program accommodates each child’s individual pace, ensuring they are always challenged but never overwhelmed.
-
Problem-Solving in Math & Literacy: We know parents sometimes worry about letter and number reversals. Don't worry! We are all over this. Using tools like the abacus to show place values and fun rhymes to define letter direction, we make correcting these errors a fun riddle that students soon solve.
-
Advanced Physical Education: In Phys Ed, students now have the coordination to begin learning the nuances of various sports. They enjoy learning the rules and skills associated with each activity, building teamwork and sportsmanship.
-
Leadership and Confidence: With a new sense of maturity, Senior Kindergarten students become role models for their younger peers. They take on leadership roles in school-wide activities, giving them a feeling of independence and inclusion that is both exciting and inspirational.
