Stepping Up in Grade 3 at Learning Beam Academy!

Grade 3 marks an exciting new chapter in your child's academic journey! Having developed strong work habits in the primary years, our third graders are ready to dive deeper. They learn to absorb and analyze information with greater skill and begin to explore topics through independent research. It's a year focused on building academic responsibility and expanding horizons.

A New Level of Academic Focus!

The curriculum in Grade 3 transitions to a more specialized structure, preparing students for advanced learning. Key academic developments include:

  • Distinct Subjects: History, Geography, and Science are now taught as separate, dedicated subjects by specialized teachers, allowing for a more in-depth exploration of each field.

  • Independent Research: Students are guided as they begin to conduct their own research, learning how to ask questions, find information, and share their discoveries.

  • Structured Homework: A regular and age-appropriate homework schedule is introduced. This helps students practice concepts learned in class and develops crucial time management and organization skills.

  • Home-School Connection: We keep families connected and informed through daily agendas and our online communication portal, providing easy access to all assignments and course materials.

Teamwork and Competition!

In Grade 3, students get their first chance to represent Learning Beam Academy in new and exciting ways!

  • Competitive Sports: Students can try out for our school's athletic teams! Joining a team is a wonderful opportunity to hone skills, learn about sportsmanship, and compete in tournaments with other schools in the Sudbury region.

  • Academic Challenges: Fun events like local Battle of the Books competitions add an exciting dimension to the learning experience and encourage a love of reading.
